Kellogg, using a process developed at the Battle Creek Sanitarium of soaking grain and then rolling and baking it to provide a thin, toasted flake which was marketed as a healthy alternative breakfast food.

Written on back: 57 Burchard St. Battle Creek, Mich April 19, 1915 Dear Cousin and all I seat myself in answer to your card just received this leaves us all well hope it will find you all the same I thank you for the birthday card although you must of forgotten the date is 21 [illegible] untill Aug 5 but thank you just the same I don't hthink that we can get up there this summer as I can't get away in the summer time very well.
