Description:
The leveling of the 59-year-old Bromberg Block building made way for an addition to the Michigan Bell Telephone Co. office at 84 E. Michigan Ave. The Bromberg building was built in 1911 by Henry A. Bromberg, a Battle Creek jeweler. Ernest H. Bourdlais, 51 Birch Hill Drive, bought the building in 1946. He operated the Monument Drug Store from the building and rented space to a tailor shop and a tavern. Bourdlais retired in 1961 and sold the building to the telephone company Feb. 16, 1970.
