Caption on back: This view shows the Battle Creek Sanitarium from Irving Park. The sanitarium, founded in 1866, is an institution for health by training. In 1876, it was taken in charge by Dr. John Harvey Kellogg and since that time has been under the same management. The sanitarium consists of 75 buildings with 15 acres of floor space, and is operated by a staff of about 1,500 persons. The site covers 50 acres. Since its existence, more than 350,000 people have been cared for here. en_US
