dc.description Color postcard showing an aerial view of the Federal Center (formerly the Battle Creek Sanitarium and Percy Jones Army Hospital) in Battle Creek. Caption on back: Office of Civil and Defense Mobilization. Operational Headquarters, Battle Creek, Michigan For many years the buildings housed the famous Battle Creek Sanitarium, and later the Percy Jones Army Hospital. In 1954 the main portion was taken over by the Federal Civil Defense Administration in a move away from Washington, D.C. a critical target area. When FCDA and the Office of Defense Mobilization were merged in 1958, the buildings became Operational Headquarters for the new agency - the Office of Civil and Defense Mobilization. Written on back: Dear Tom - I enjoyed getting your nice letter, well written and newsy. I'll answer it soon. Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving, and lots of turkey. Tim and I had a wonderful time and a good visit. The weather was just perfect. Hope you are well and having some fun. Lots of love, Papa Sent to: Master Tom Trowbridge 4202 Mandan Crescent Madison Wisconsin Sent on: [illegible] 1960 en_US
