Washington Ave. Building was originally constructed in 1899 for the Phelps Medical and Surgical Sanatorium; later sold to Bernarr Macfadden for his Health Home. C. W. Post took over the building as a headquarters for his national Trades and Workers Association about 1910 and operated it in this building until his death in 1914.
