Postcard showing color photo of the building constructed as Phelps Medical and Surgical Sanatorium in 1899 on N. Washington Avenue by Neil and Oscar Phelps. Later the building became the Macfadden Health Home Sanatorium (1907-09), the headquarters of C. W. Post's Trades and Workers Association, and finally it was bought by Dr. John Harvey Kellogg, operating as the Battle Creek Sanitarium Annex before becoming the main Sanitarium facility in 1942.

Written on back: Nov. 22 --'20 Dear Ida and all: -- Received your most welcome letter and was glad to hear from you. I am feeling fair and expect to come back the first of next week. am pretty weak. Do wish you folks could of come over here. Oh! yes, I would of got out of bed and put you out of the hospital. Four years was yesterday I had my other operation. It seems longer than that. When I come home, come down and see me. Dr. said I would have to be careful for long times. Will say bye - As ever. I. D.
