Abstract

Merchant Fred S. Sterling, 1867-1950, with his brother George, operated the Sterling Bros. store in downtown Battle Creek, a dry goods, men's furnishings and hardware store from 1906 until 1945. Mr. Sterling was very active in community affairs. He and his wife Eleanor were lovers of classical music and contributed generously the the Battle Creek Symphony Orchestra.
