Last evening at 8:45 a fire was discovered in the room located over the bulk head or flume of the School Seat Factory and the alarm was turned in to tbe engine bouse. Very soon tbe entire department responded and at once the fight to save the large buildings was begun, chemicals and water being used freely to overcome the flames, but to no avail, as the buildings were converted into a pile of ruins before midnight.
The origin of the fire is unacounted for...
The capital stock of the School Furniture Company waa $153,000, and tbe controlling interest waa held by Hon. E. O Nichols and V. P. Collier. The loss is estimated to be $150,000 and is mitigated by an insurance of about $80,000 in various companies...
