Home of Dr. Vince on Goguac Lake; later Buckingham Inn before burning. Designed by architect Lewis Sarvis and built about 1925, this 13 room home was built by local dentist, Edmund D. Vince, on a Goguac Lake island which originally was known as "Elk's Island." Vince built a bridge and then a causeway to access the home from the mainland. After Vince's death the home briefly became the Buckingham Inn before being destroyed by fire on February 21, 1966. (Source: Battle Creek Enquirer and News, August 4, 1963) |
