Description:
Color Postcard showing a photo of the interior lobby of the Administration Building at the Postum Cereal Company. C. W. Post (1856-1914) first visited Battle Creek as a patient at the Battle Creek Sanitarium. He started the Postum Cereal Company in 1895, introducing a cereal drink, Postum, at that time and Grape Nuts cereal in 1897. In 1908 he started production of Elijah's Manna, a flaked corn cereal that later became known as Post Toasties. Grandin Advertising was a company he founded to handle the advertising business of the Post Company, in some years over $1,000,000 per year. This building also housed the Postum Company Administrative Offices. Post was accused of founding Grandin in 1903 to circumvent commissions paid to other advertising agencies.
