Written on back: Tuesday Eve. Dear [illegible] I have just finished packing all the effects of which I am seized and tomorrow afternoon I should snap my whip and start the pony homewards - going as far as I can the 1st day that the drive be less long for the second. It is just as dear and thoughtful as can be for Emma I wish to meet me in Marion - yet I can't let Emma do it - not with an easy conscience. knowing as I do that Emma herself is not well. If I had known that Messinger was going to desert me and fly off to N.Y. I should have not brought the car at all. Well, now Messinger is to meet me in Columbus after having interviewed with success, I suppose the teachers' agency. Aunt Nell's pleasure in not having him in Circle was short lived! he is a rather astonishing person whose movements are incalculable. Many, many thoughts of the letter and sweet little posies. [illegible] will probably be ringing you up before this greeting reaches you but sooner or later it will bring you the loving wishes of James Paul |
