Color Postcard showing an aerial photo of Monument Square and surrounding streets at the corner of Division Street, Main Street, and Marshall Street (now East Michigan Avenue), c. 1914. The monument, "Defense of our Flag" featuring two Civil War soldiers, was dedicated in 1901. It was moved to McCamly Park in 1966 to make way for redesign of the intersection. Also seen in the view are the new City Hall, the First Methodist Church, the US Post Office and other prominent Battle Creek buildings.

Written on back: Wed. Dad This is a beautiful city. This house is on a fine street with beautiful large home & grounds near by. I have seen quite a bit of the town. One of these days we will go thru Kellogg's factory & also Post's factory. Later I want to take a trip to Kalamazoo by trolley. Hattie.
