Postcard showing a photo of the Soldiers and Sailors Monument at the corner of Division Street, Main Street, and Marshall Street (now East Michigan Avenue), c. 1908. This monument, "Defense of our Flag" featuring two Civil War soldiers, was dedicated in 1901. It was moved to McCamly Park in 1966 to make way for redesign of the intersection. The First Methodist Church may be seen in the background at right.
Caption on front: Soldiers' Monument. Battle Creek, Mich.
Written on back: Rec'd your postal O.K., it was quite a surprise. How do you like life on the sea? I'll bet its great. I know I would like it. Every thing here is fine, only the weather is rather cold now and I don't like that. If you ever get time I would be glad to hear from you again, but I suppose you are pretty busy.
