This company, originally incorporated as the Sanitas Nut Food Company, was owned and operated by Dr. John Harvey Kellogg in the former Compensating Pipe Organ company building along the railroad tracks in Springfield between 10th and 20th streets. In 1906 the building was taken over by the Lyon and Healy Company, which sold the building in 1908 to the Corl Piano company, which in turn sold it to the Castle Lamp Works in 1912 which closed in August, 1913. The Kellogg Food Company was a competitor to W. K. Kellogg's Toasted Corn Flake Company. Legal problems between brothers Will Keith and John Harvey Kellogg resulted in the change of this company's name from "Kellogg Food Company" to "Battle Creek Food Company" in the spring of 1921.
