The Kellogg Toasted Corn Flake Company was founded in 1906 by W. K. Kellogg, using a process developed at the Battle Creek Sanitarium of soaking grain and then rolling and baking it to provide a thin, toasted flake which was marketed as a healthy alternative breakfast food.
