dc.description Postcard showing a photo of the Seventh Day Adventist "Dime Tabernacle" before the fire that destroyed it on January 7, 1922. Dedicated on April 20, 1879, the $26,275 cost of building the church was raised by donations of a dime a month from members. It could seat 3,200 people. The Dime Tabernacle was located on the corner of West Main (now West Michigan Avenue) and North Washington Street, facing McCamly Park. Caption on front: S.D.A. Tabernacle. Battle Creek, Mich. 432 Written on front: Seventh Day Adventist Written on back: 8/9/10 Dear Leila, I am still in Battle Creek having a fine time. Went through the Sanitarium yesterday and took dinner there last night. Do not know when I will be back in Ill. but will probably go straight from Chicago to Peoria.
