dc.description Color postcard showing the W. K. Kellogg Hotel building on the northwest corner of West Van Buren and North Washington streets, c. 1930. Opened in June, 1930, as a competitor to the Post Tavern,the hotel was purchased by Thomas Hart in 1937 and changed its name to the "Hart Hotel" in 1938. After changing hands several times and brief use as an alternative sentencing program, the building was sold to the Scientology organization in 2001 with intent to use it for their program. Caption on front: Kellogg Hotel, Battle Creek, Mich. caption on back: The Kellogg Hotel, one of the new hotels in mBattle Creek, is located at West Van Buren and North Washington Avenue. The hotel has 100 rooms and baths, is equipped modernly throughout. The street floor consists of stores and shops. Written on back: from Mary Wilson Hazel Campbells card club! en_US
