dc.description Emmerson Truck and Storage Co. had been in business about 41 years when this photograph of the firm's vehicles and employees was taken in 1935 in front of Emmerson's headquarters at 121 E. State St. James W. Emmerson founded the company in 1894 and first used a horse and cart to haul items around the city. In 1903, he was joined in partnership by George Sergeant, who acquired full interest in the business in 1932. His son, Robert N. Sergeant, took over the business after his father's death in 1949. Nellie B. Collins supplied the photograph, which was published in the Enquirer and News on May 5, 1979. en_US
