Description:
The Kellogg Co.'s 1930 semipro baseball team poses for a photograph in its home park, located on the future site of Southeastern Junior High School. Third from the right in the back row is James Moran, whose widow, Leona Mizer, submitted the photograph. Mizer told the Enquirer and News for its May 10, 1980, edition that a Kellogg Co. official saw Moran pitching near Ann Arbor and offered him a job so he could pitch for the team. When Kellogg discontinued its team, Moran pitched for the rival Postum Cereals and later the United Steel & Wire Co., which won a state championship in 1938. Moran died in 1959 at age 51 of a heart condition.
