dc.description Goguac Lake was something of a recreation center in the early 1900s, among the attractions being this amusement park on the north shore in a section known as Park Biedler, named for developer Jacob H. Biedler. It was later renamed Liberty Park. The Casino, on the left, was a relic of the 1904 exposition at St. Louis and was brought to the park in about 1916 by promoters Herman Becker and Charles Jeffries. A later operator, Ted Berles, redecorated the pavilion and ran a dance hall called Dreamland upstairs and a cabaret on the ground floor. The Casino was razed in 1933. Other attractions around the pavilion included the roller coaster at right as well as a roller-skating rink, another dance hall and a "chute-the-chutes" ride. (Photo courtesy of Richard A.
