The Seventh-day Adventist Tabernacle at the corner of Washington Avenue and West Van Buren Street, shown here in 1984, was dedicated Oct. 9, 1926, and stands on the site of the Dime Tabernacle, which burned in 1922. The religion, which establishes the sabbath from sundown Friday to sundown Saturday, was organized and named in Battle Creek in 1855 by evangelistic pioneers James and Ellen White. |
