dc.description Nearly 50 workers, including 10 from Starr Commonwealth for Boys at Albion, paint the Ceresco Community Hall on May 10, 1975. The community's efforts to save the hall included several fundraising festivals beginning in 1973 and a $300 grant from the America the Beautiful Fund in 1974. The Albert L. and Louise B. Miller Foundation awarded the project $4,000 in 1977. Built in 1901, the hall was for decades the town's focal point for fellowship and entertainment. Community use ended in the late 1980s, and the hall was sold to private owners. Ceresco, named for Ceres, the Greek goddess of grain, was founded in 1828 when a sawmill and stone-ground flour mill were located there. en_US
