dc.description A photograph of Church of the Resurrection at 2589 Capital Ave. SW while under construction in 1971 or 1972. The $200,000 church — with a steeple adorned with a "traveler's cross" — would be dedicated March 16, 1972, and at the same time, the Rev. James Looft Postel would be instituted as rector by the Right Rev. Charles E. Bennison, the bishop of Western Michigan. The church began as a parochial mission of the St. Thomas Episcopal Church in about 1962 and was a mission of St. Thomas until 1969. It acquired full parish status in 1970. en_US
