Construction of Battle Creek's public safety building at 20 N. Division St. was reported about a week ahead of schedule on Nov. 23, 1970, with a completion target of August 1971. The future home of the Battle Creek Police Department, still in use 48 years later but scheduled for replacement in the fall of 2018, was erected just north of City Hall. Vander Veen Construction Co. of Kalamazoo built the 32,200-square-foot police headquarters. |
