The Post Building, built by cereal magnate C.W. Post, was described as Battle Creek's first skyscraper when it was completed in 1900. Jacobson's operated a department store in it from 1951 to 1982. The building, at 65 W. Michigan Ave. was demolished June 1985 to make way for a landscaped parking lot between Jackson Street and the Michigan Mall. The demolition was part of a $10.5 million downtown improvement project. |
