Ex-Vice President Stevenson Tendered a Magnificent Reception By Our Citizens Last Night. At the Athelstan Club Rooms. While St. Louis and the World's Exposition officials had the honor and pleasure of entertaining President Roosevelt and Ex-President Cleveland last evening, the "Queen City" and the Athelstan Club did the honors for Ex Vice President Stevenson who was accorded a most elegant reception, and one which was nothing short of an ovation to our most distinguished visitor. Hundreds of our representative ladies and gentlemen, as guests of the club, met in the elegant club rooms and enjoyed, the delightful pleasure of meeting the Ex-Vice President, who has been in our city for a week past on a visit to his son and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. L. G. Stevenson, of 41 Orchard Place. The Club rooms were most charmingly decorated with the choicest flowers, vines and ferns, American beauty roses, rich and special carnations and graceful lilies being seen in abundance. The arrangements were exquisitely fine and to Chairman Bathrick of the entertainment committee belongs the credit for the decorating—the flowers coming from Coles hothouse. The gentlemen composing the committee on reception were Messrs E. C. Hinman, Chairman; Charles Austin, Sr., C. C. Beach, C. F. Bock, S. O. Bush, George E. Howes Sr., Dr. E. W. Lamoreaux, Dr. A. T. Metcalf, Hon. E. C Nichols C. W. Post, B. T. Skinner, N. S. Phelps, C. E. Thomas, Attorneys A. B. Williams and W. R. Wooden. President Bock of the Athelstan Club and its active members are to be credited for the thoughtful and magnificent event which was greatly enjoyed by all and appreciated by none more than by the guest of honor, who after a season of formalities intermingled with the throngs and made himself, most pleasing to all. A grand ball followed the reception and the scene was as grand and brilliant as any society event yet held under the auspices of this organization. Mr. Stevenson leaves for Chicago this morning,promising to again and often visit Battle Creek."	en_US
