dc.description Postcard showing a view of Maple Street (now Capital Avenue, Northeast). Note interurban tracks and brick pavement. Interurbans were electric light railroads which connected all of the major cities in Michigan from the 1890's into the 1930's when they were phased out due to increased use of automobiles. In the countryside the electric cars were powered by a third rail system and in the cities generally by overhead electric wires. Caption on front: Beautiful Maple St., Battle Creek, Mich. Written on back: My dear [illegible] Enjoyed your good letter so much, but am sorry the night school continues for I know it is too much for you. Expect to return Saturday or Sunday p.m. It is time to go to my dinner. Come and join me. Much love. B. [illegible] Sent to: Miss Agnes Manwald 671 Orchard St. Chicago, Ill.
