dc.description Postcard showing a view of Maple Street, now Capital Avenue Northeast. Note the interurban tracks and brick pavement. Interurbans were electric light railroads which connected all of the major cities in Michigan from the 1890's into the 1930's when they were phased out due to increased use of automobiles. In the countryside the electric cars were powered by a third rail system and in the cities generally by overhead electric wires. Caption on front: Beautiful Maple Street, Battle Creek, Mich. en_US
