Description:
The west end of Battle Creek was once called Advent Town — the area of West Michigan and South Washington streets where the Review and Herald building stood. The publishing house left Battle Creek after a fire in 1902, part of the Adventists' exodus from Battle Creek that had begun a year earlier at the prompting of Ellen White. The building, which served other business purposes in the ensuing years, was razed in 1946 — the year this photo was taken.
