Teacher Dorothy Carnell works at the drawing desk with kindergartners at the Newman school in Emmett Township for a photo published in the Sept. 15, 1946, edition of the Enquirer and News. The photo was the first of a series in the Enquirer featuring rural schools. The Newman school enrolled 123 pupils, according to the newspaper. |
