dc.description Former heavyweight boxing champion Jack Dempsey autographs the cast of Pfc. Philip Cloney of Kalamazoo during a visit to Percy Jones General Hospital on Feb. 6, 1947. The Enquirer and News noted that Cloney, wounded in action with the 8th Infantry Division in France, had a ringside seat at a wrestling exhibition for which the "Manassa Mauler" was a guest referee. Dempsey advised the troops to smoke cigars if they wanted to keep that "school girl figure." en_US
