dc.description | Servicemen from Percy Jones General hospital visit a new clubhouse on opening day, July 15, 1945. The Purple Heart Club, as it was called, was in the renovated Fordham house on West Van Buren Street, just around the corner from the military hospital. Operated by the Percy Jones clubs of the Wilcox-Rich and Kellogg companies, the club afforded patients a place to entertain visitors or simply to relax. More than 200 visited the house on opening day. | en_US |
