dc.description The Level Park School in Bedford Townships was, until April 1959, an independent school district. District voters approved its annexation to the Battle Creek district on April 20 of that year by a 435 to 213 margin, rebuffing an offer to join the Springfield district instead. This photograph of unknown origin purports to show the school building in 1923. The impetus for the annexation vote was to ensure Level Park students would have reliable access to a high school education. Prior to the vote, the district paid to tuition for families to send students to the district of their choice. en_US
