dc.description The original Battle Creek Central School building, photographed in about 1920 opened on April 10, 1871. The school was three stories high with a slate roof and cost $83,000 to build. It had a capacity of 864 students from all grades. It was located on the SW corner of McCamly and Champion Streets. After construction of the new Battle Creek Central High School building in 1908, the building housed the districts Junior High School until W. K. Kellogg Junior High School was constructed in 1931-34 and the old Central building was razed. en_US
