dc.description The future site of the Lakeview Square Mall as seen in June 1980. New Jersey-based Forbes-Cohen and Battle Creek Interstate Properties Inc. first proposed the mall in 1976 on the 57-acre site bounded by I-94, M-66, Beckley Road and Riverside Drive, but the plan required several local and state approvals, one for diverting Brickyard Creek, which crossed the property approximately where the future Sears would sit. The mall celebrated its grand opening Aug. 3, 1983. en_US
