dc.description |
A 45-foot-long, yellow cargo carrier, a product of Clark Equipment Co., roams an abandoned apron at Kellogg Regional Airfield in Battle Creek. The carrier was designed to lift a van or cargo box off a truck and was one of 500 such vehicles around the world, according to a June 24, 1973, account in the Enquirer and News. Nine years later, Clark announced the consolidation of lift truck assembly work, eliminating 400 jobs, and by 1987 had ended all production in Springfield. The plant was demolished in 1992. |
