dc.description A Battle Creek Wrecking Co. crane swings a 3,300-pound steel ball against the historic Post Tavern Motor Inn at 67 W. Michigan Ave. Demolition began Sept. 2, 1970, and would continue for three months. The 10-story addition to the original Post Tavern increased the number of rooms from 135 to 195 when it was completed in September 1913. Later owners of the landmark hotel added "Motor Inn" to the the name in 1960, which an Enquirer and News editorial on Feb. 2, 1960, predicted would be "greeted with enthusiasm by the entire local business community." en_US
